FAQ Corona-Crisis

In order to minimize the Spread of the Corona virus, experts call for "social distancing". Nonetheless, basic legal exam requirements are valid and unchanged. The following references explain our measures and should answer some often-raised questions. All temporary adjustments are due to the Corona virus outbreak and will be reverted, once the situation calms.

Cancellation of Exams starting March 16, 2020

All exams and oral exams are cancelled starting March 16, 2020
The department will offer alternative dates as soon as possible.

Master thesis deadline pushed to April 20, 2020

Due to the closure of the library, all open master thesis have their deadline pushed until April 20. Further evaluation will follow. If want to extend your thesis until April 20, you do not have to further apply, it will be automatically approved. In addition, after this date it might be possible to receive extra extensions, please contact us at MIEPP@uni.mainz.de, decisions will be made on an individual basis.

How can I hand in my master thesis?

Starting March 18, 2020 your MIEPP master thesis can be handed in electronically until further notice. In order to hand in your master thesis, send an e-mail from your students account to studienbuero-fb03@uni-mainz.de.

The thesis has to be in PDF format. Furthermore, the statutory declaration has to still be signed personally. Thus, you can either scan or photograph (has to be readable) the signed statutory declaration and add it to the e-mail. The statutory declaration and the thesis have to be attached to the same e-mail.

The hand-in date is the date the e-mail is received. Once you sent the email, the hand-in is complete. There is no way you can change your thesis anymore (i.e. if you find a mistake after handing it in, you cannot send a new version on the same day).

The registrar’s office will not ask for further printed versions.

Hand in your master thesis via post. The post stamp counts as the hand in date. Please always check the requirements yourself (i.e. number of copies, binding, statutory declaration etc.)

I deregistered my exam after March 12, 2020. Is it possible to still participate in the retake exam?

Yes. Taking advantage of the short-term opportunity to deregister exams will not lead to any disadvantages.

R introduction course

Dear Master Students at the Business and Economics Department! 

 

Due to the high demand for the R course in October, we offer a second introductory course to the statistical software environment “R” (www.r-project.org). The course will take place on January 09.10. 2020. Attached (below)you find the schedule, including the topics covered. 

 

The course is a voluntary offer and not directly linked to another course. The offer is addressed to interested students of all Master's programs (Accounting & Finance, Management and MIEPP). 

 

The course has a maximum capacity of 20 participants. If you want to attend the course, please register by mail (mailto:constantin.weiser AT uni-mainz.de?subject=Introductory%20R%20course) (first come first served basis). A private laptop is needed. The course language will be English. 

 

Further information will be provided after registration (e.g. course room, recommended preparation of the computer, ...).  I look forward to your participation.
